Chicken Salad and Change

Valentine's Girl!

 January 29 - February 4, 2018

Big Girl!
We started our Whole30 on the first and it has went well so far! We have all been sick at one point or another, which has made it hard but we've been strong! We had our weekly date night at Sam's and stocked up on diapers (and found some cute outfits for Della... see one above 💕) we are trying out the Sam's brand diapers and so far haven't had any issues. They are much cheaper, so we'll see! We did our grocery shopping on Wednesday and Della rode in the cart for the first time! She did so good and loved looking around at everything and swinging her legs! We stocked up on the standard stuff for Whole30, meat, veggies and some fruit. They have a meal plan in the book, but it literally gave me anxiety just looking at it... I can't handle meal prep to that extent. We are going simple and we can make some of the recipes in the book on the weekends maybe. We have declared chicken salad the lunch of choice for our whole30 because I can make a batch of homemade mayo and then chicken salad out of that and it last for a few days. It's easy and really tasty!
We love shopping!

My main goal for this whole30 reset is to break the habits I have with sugar. They talk about your "sugar dragon" and that you have to tame that sucker. My sugar dragon is like the basilisk in Harry Potter... it sneaks up on you, hiding in the walls, and before you know it, it strikes and your left with a cupcake wrapper in your hand and have no memory of how it got there... I LOVE sugar. If it's sweet, I'll eat it. So hopefully this will help me break that habit of giving in to temptation (one cookie is OK... 24 is not.) Because if I don't get this under control now I will definitely have the diabetes in a few years. I had gestational diabetes with Della and I was able to manage it great, but quickly fell off the wagon after she was born. So hopefully this will get me back on track to keeping up a healthy diet, and losing some weight will be a plus!

7 months!

Bye, Bye!

Della is 7 months old this week! She's waving "bye" like a champ now, and reached out and turned off the bathroom light. She can grab things and I think she would like to pick up food herself and eat it. We're still doing baby food, but I may look into some soft foods she can pick up. She tends to grab the spoon and put it in her mouth when I feed her! I took her 7 month pictures in a cute valentines dress I got at Sam's for $5! She did great, and is sitting up better, and is just almost crawling!

We watched the Superbowl at my parent's house and managed to have some great food while staying Whole30 compliant! Turns out we don't have to have pizza when football is on... LOL! We made some homemade potato wedges with whole30 ranch dressing. The dressing didn't taste like ranch, but it was good and worked as a dipping sauce for just about everything.

It was a good week and a successful first few days of the Whole30. If you hate counting calories or need to kill your sugar cravings, you should try it!
