Gettin' Stuff Done

Things to do...

I am a list-maker. I try to be as organized as possible, and lists help me to do that. I seems to help organize my mind when I can write out the things I need to do or get. I rarely get even close to everything done that I want to, but at least I try! Some of the things on the list are getting into a routine with Della, school work and house projects, so that's what I worked on this week.

Della will be going into daycare on October 4th, I go back to work on September 25th (😭😭) so she'll get to spend the first week I'm back with her Nana! But we've got to figure out a schedule for her for when she goes to "school" as mama calls it. Since we've been home and I'm breastfeeding, her schedule is mostly: "you're upset... here's a boob!" and she sleeps when she sleeps... so I've got to work on that and planning out my mornings so that I don't run around like a crazy person and then be late for work! She has slept in her crib a few times for naps, so I have been able to get some things done around the house.

The arsenal was closed Tuesday due to Hurricane Irma, so Daniel got to spend the day at home! We are in the process of remodeling our house (slowly because we are doing it mostly ourselves) so we worked on our small bathroom and put texture on the ceiling to match the nursery. Our house was built in the late 70s so it's all paneling and popcorn ceilings... so we are scraping the ceilings and putting a swirly texture back on to disguise the unevenness of the aftermath. It actually looks really good! I put a coat of paint on after the plaster set, and now I just need to paint the walls and trim.

We went to Sam's to get a few things and had dinner there as well. What many people don't realize (I think) is that Sam's Club is an awesome and cheap place to eat! they have the best Nathan's hot dogs and you can get a huge piece of pizza for like, a dollar. Daniel and I got 3 hotdogs, 2 chips and 2 large drinks for $6.00. You can't beat that! We're the exciting couple that loves to go to Sam's and Lowe's and places like that and just look around. But I'm so glad that I have someone that I love to do even the most mundane things with, like buying diapers in bulk... Daniel makes my life fun no matter what we're doing.

This week I also had a dentist appointment that Della accompanied me on, and she did great waiting on me to have my teeth cleaned! I also added another photo to her nursery, a 16x20 of one of her newborn session photos by my friend Josh. I got the frame at Hobby Lobby, but it was an awful color so I painted it white and got it hung.

I'm also in the last semester of my graduate program in Higher Ed Administration, so I had to work on some things for my Capstone research project this week. I'm researching effective communication methods for alumni... so if you went to UNA it's possible you may get a survey form me sometime in the next couple of months. I will graduate in December, and I can't wait! I'm so glad that I did this, because I never thought I would get a masters degree, but I'll be glad when I have one less thing on my plate.

How to get schoolwork done with a newborn...

The weekend was wonderful and relaxing! Football on Saturday and Sunday we went on a family walk after I got my schoolwork turned in.

This upcoming week will be my last week of maternity leave... 😭 so I've got to get it together and get the rest of my list done before I go back.... and practice getting up earlier...
