Happy Homecoming!

The Homecoming Gals! (photo by Shannon Wells)

This week was full of UNA Homecoming! I work in the Alumni Relations Office, so we are extremely involved in the homecoming festivities, coordinating events, reunions, the parade... you name it. This was also the week that Della started daycare!

Selfie with Mommy!
Della is really starting to show her personality! She's getting very talkative and likes to coo and giggle, and she's doing so good holding her head up. She likes to smile at the baby in the camera, which makes for fun selfies! On Monday and Tuesday she stayed with Daniel's dad, Dan and his girlfriend Carolyn. They had a great time with her and I'm so glad they got to keep her and spend time with her.

Big Girl!!

Della started daycare on Wednesday and is doing great! There are just a few babies in the class so I really like it. It is close to work, so it's really convenient for drop off and pick up.

Della's cubby!

Excited for school!

worn out from her first day!
Thursday kicked off the homecoming festivities with the Alumni Banquet, so I had to work late. I picked up Della, then Daniel came to get her at UNA and we swapped cars, as he doesn't have a car seat base in his car yet. We got to visit for a bit and I fed Della then he headed home. The banquet went great, we got to honor our award winners and Haley did a great job making the place look like a million bucks!

During the banquet I got a text from Daniel...

RIP "the snuggle is real" onesie...
Apparently on the way home Della had what I call a "Pooptastrophie" and totally obliterated her diaper, onesie and the car seat. Daniel had to go home and clean everything and give her a bath... he almost just gave up and got my parents car seat, but he persevered and when I got home that sweet poopy baby was clean, asleep and in her pajamas. But I think Daniel is scarred for life! LOL! Bless her, since starting on some formula her poops have been a bit irregular and if she goes a day or two without "going" then that next one is a doozy! But kudos to Daniel for being a 5-star daddy and taking the initiation in stride! 😘

clean baby!
Friday brought the golf tournament and concert. I did not have to work the concert, much to Daniel's joy so he didn't have a second night of single-parenthood, and it was wonderful to come home and rest a bit before the big day on Saturday.

Homecoming Day was busy and full of fun! We got to campus at 9:00 a.m. to make sure everything was set for the parade and lunch, then they day just rolled on from there. Della made it about halfway through the parade before she fell asleep... we carried her around all day in the carrier and she did great. It was so much easier than carting around the stroller and she got to see alot more of the activities! At first we had a regular bib on her, then Daniel said we needed her to have a UNA one so that she would be completely outfitted... After the parade we ate lunch on the lawn of Rogers Hall and then Della took a nap in my office and we took the opportunity to cool off. It may be October, but it's Alabama and hot!

We also got to visit with our friends and my sorority sister Allison, Chris and their girls Vivian and Caroline. This is the first time that the girls got to meet Della, but she snoozed through the whole thing. After lunch we headed to tailgate on Spirit Hill at the alumni pavilion. The Shoals Doula Group had a tent set up for feeding and changing so we stopped by there too. I think its a great idea to have a tent for those of us that are crazy enough to bring a baby to tailgate! 😂 They will be at UNA's Preview Day tailgate as well! We didn't stay for the game because I had homework to do and we were all tired. As we headed to the car the first raindrops fell, so we timed it just right!

Sunday we really just took it easy and recovered from the weekend. I had to prepare an outline for my Capstone that was due Saturday night... but I got permission to turn it in late. We slept in and met my parents for lunch, then they took Della with them so I could concentrate on my schoolwork. It was a good, calm day and we decided that we really need to observe Sunday as a day of rest. It felt good to rest and rejuvenate for the week, so hopefully we can continue that.

Tummy Time!

Nana and Papa wear me out!
It was a fun week, and I'm so happy Della got to experience her first Homecoming! She really is the cutest lions fan... though I'm a bit biased. 😉
