Santa and Sleeping!

Della & Santa!  photo by Shannon Wells

This week we've seen some more firsts for Della! She got to meet Santa on Wednesday and started sleeping in her crib all night! I tried on Monday for the first time and she only stayed in there about 30 minutes then I brought her in our room... but Tuesday we had success! Of course I got up a few times to check on her when I heard her rustle around on the monitor, but she was able to get back to sleep, and we got up at our usual time, about 5:00 am. Of course, she's such a happy baby when she wakes up in the morning, I have no idea where she gets that from!

Tuesday we also had our weekly date night and Mama and Daddy kept Della. We did some Christmas shopping and I also got our Christmas cards designed, as well as Mama and Daddy's designed and ordered. I love being able to design and order our own cards, not to mention photograph the images for them too, because it saves us so much money on family pics and cards! you can usually catch cards from Shutterfly and the like on sale this time of year, but even with that they are still so expensive!

Wednesday was a busy day, that's the day we got to meet Santa and we had our Alumni board holiday party! The Santa party was very well organized and we didn't have to wait a long time. They had tents with heaters set up and fun things to do like decorating cookies and ornaments. Our group was the "Penguin" group, so we went in and Della did great with Santa! The little dress I had her in looked so cute! Our university photographer, Shannon, took the photos and I took some too. After our visit with Santa we had our Alumni Board Holiday Party at Rogers Hall. Daniel came into town and met us there, it was a great party and we got some great photos by the beautiful tree!

Wednesday was also my Mom and Dad's wedding anniversary! They celebrated 43 years together, and I must say they are the example that I look to when it comes to having a successful partnership in marriage! Everyone had their ups and downs, but they have always shown us that love for God, each other and family is the most important in life. Not only are they great parents, who raised wonderful children, if I may say so myself, they are great friends... and now awesome grandparents!

We also had our staff holiday luncheon this week and of course I had to sport my chicken Christmas sweater! It's always a hit, lol!

We worked on the bathroom this weekend and got the vanity and toilet in!! Yay for a working bathroom! It doesn't have a door... but it has plumbing! We're going to get the rest of the stuff we need to finish it up this coming week, like baseboards, a mirror and such. I'm so excited to have it so close to being done, and now it's just cosmetic stuff which is the most fun! I look forward to decorating it, and then moving on to the bedroom. I feel like the other rooms will be much faster because they don't involve plumbing... we also want to do the kitchen of course, but it will be last. I so want to add in a dishwasher and we plan to get a new counter top. But we won't re-arrange the layout or anything so hopefully it won't be too bad. We'll just paint the cabinets and I know it will look so much better!

Sunday night we had a little Christmas program at church and finger foods. The kids sang some songs and it was so cute! Della had fun being passed around and saying hi to all the other kiddos.

This coming week should be fun, as I'll be graduating!! I can't wait!
