I'll cover 2 weeks in this post to catch up... apparently being home with a 6 month old means you don't get much done! Between being sick and having a classic Alabama snowstorm (about 1.5 inches) we were stuck in the house for almost a full week! Della started having a funny sounding cough on that Tuesday the 10th, so I took her in first thing on Wednesday to get it checked out. Apparently she had the beginning of the croup, so we got some meds and were told we'd just have to let it run it's course. My dad watched her the rest of the day and I stayed home with her on Thursday since she didn't need to go to daycare. She was harder to put to bed that week, and just all around fussier than normal, and come to find out she is cutting two teeth! Yay! 😒😀 So that bedtime routine we've been working on kinda went out the window...

Then on Friday IT SNOWED! So Alabama pretty much shut down and Daniel was off work as well! We had a fun few snow days just hanging out and also getting some things done on the bathroom! The real snow came on Monday and Tuesday, and then it just didn't get above freezing, so daycare was closed the whole week, and Daniel and I went back to work on Thursday. There were still some icy patches on the back-roads because of the shade, but we were able to make it out. Bernie got to play in the snow too, and loved all the cuddle time she got with her people! While we were snowed in, Della got to start reading the Harry Potter illustrated books, play in the floor a lot with the musical toys she got for Christmas, and get pictures made in the snow! She can roll over both ways like a champ and I think when she gets the rhythm down she'll be crawling soon. She loves the music toys and will grab the little telephone and shake it around! Since she's rolling around alot, she has gotten to where she rolls to the edge of her crib and will stick her hand out between the slats, lol! I'll go in in the mornings or after a nap and a little hand or foot will be sticking out! I've got a great little sleep sack thing that I put her in that's fleece, that way I don't have to put any blankets in there with her... We've also started more baby food! She's had grean beans, peas, carrots (and loves them!) apples, bananas and pears. So far she has figured out how to get the food off the spoon and gets real excited when I get out the container! I'm going to look up what kind of Pinterest projects I can make out of those cute little baby food jars... I think she's on the edge of saying "mama" but we've got to work on it a little more.
Before and after!

so pretty! |
So, like I said, we worked on the bathroom while we were stuck at home and actually got it finished! I just have to get two decorative thingys for the crates to finish it off. I'm so excited to have two functioning bathrooms again, and one that looks just awesome! The best thing is, that once we had the initial prep done by professionals, everything else we did ourselves. The tile, installing the vanity and toilet, painting... everything. And it feels great to be able to say that we did it ourselves and saved money and learned alot in the process! I love how flipping this little bathroom has given me the confidence to pretty much do anything around the house. I mean, laying tile yourself can be pretty daunting, but once you break it down to the steps and just do it one step at a time it's pretty simple. The finishing touches were the little tile back splash I put on the vanity, using the crates for storage, and I caulked around EVERYTHING. There were so many gaps between the wall and the crown moulding that it just looked bad... our house is apparently not exactly square... having that white caulk to fill in the gaps really finished it off nicely and just made every thing look clean. Also, since it is a bathroom and there will be moisture, not to mention a toddler splashing around at some point, I wanted to make sure that water couldn't get under the floor and such and ruin our good work.

lower crate with shelf |
My favorite thing may be the crates... The rustic art kid in me loves this stuff. I bought some plain crates at Lowes for $11 and stained them a dark walnut like our dining table (I love this color!) and mounted one to use for towel storage, with hooks on the side facing the tub so that you can hang your wet towel or robe. I used another one for beside the toilet to store the trash can and extra toilet paper. To make the shelf in the lower crate, I took apart a third crate and used the end for the shelf. I plan to get some small furniture feet to stain and attach to the bottom to get it up off the floor. I originally was going to mount it to the wall, but I just don't want to put any more holes in the wall than I have to...

While we were out I got in my diploma!! I plan to frame it with my bachelor's diploma and hang it in my office. I want to frame my Phi Kappa Phi certificate and medallion as well. It was a lot of hard work, but so worth it and I'm very proud to be a 2-time UNA Alum!
This weekend Daniel was supposed to drill but with the government shutdown and all... he came home early on Saturday. Sunday my Mom and Dad kept Della for a little while because I have this crud again that I think I'm just destined to keep passing back and forth until Della is an adult... #germykids. It was nice to sit and relax and get in some crocheting! I should finish some little moccasins I'm making for her so that ya'll can see those next week! I also finished a baby dress for our pastor's wife who just had their 4th daughter! I love making gifts, and feel that everyone should have something handmade with love! And crocheted baby stuff is just so darn cute!

Della actually went to bed pretty easily Sunday night (a welcome surprise because Nana brought her back all excited 😂😂) So hopefully her teeth aren't bothering her too bad...
...Because I really love sleep.
