that's good sleep |
This week has been a fun one! Della is now very squirmy and likes to roll around in her crib quite a bit! A lot of mornings I'll find her with an arm or foot sticking out of her crib... We've had some interesting times trying to get her to go to sleep at night, and thank goodness the last couple of nights she's went to sleep somewhat easily. On Tuesday I don't think anyone in my house slept for more than 2 hours at a time... Daniel and I had our date night and got the final touches purchased for the bathroom and ate, and then picked up Della at my parents'. I was still not feeling great, so I actually fell asleep while we were there. So we got home late, about 11 pm and I nursed Della and put her to bed. She woke up around 2 am and I nursed her and put her back down... then at 3:30 am Bernie decides she needs to potty... out she goes and I lay down on the couch to wait for her to bark. I wake up at 4:30 am and let her back in and get back in bed. My alarm goes off at 5:30 am, hit snooze and oversleep. So needless to say it was a 3 cups of coffee kind of day on Wednesday. I've found that if we give her a bottle around 7 pm then let her bounce for a bit before bath time and bed she goes down a bit easier. I still nurse her to sleep, which could be a bad habit to start, but I know it will put her out and I'm fine with the cuddles. She's woken up before in the night and gotten back to sleep without nursing, so I know its possible.

I feel the same, kid.
I got the furniture feet onto the crate in the bathroom, I just need to add the pipes to the wall crate to finish it off. It is unbelievable how long it takes to get stuff done around the house when you work full time, have a kid and still want to do fun things (like crochet on the couch 😂). I plan to start on the extra bedroom in February and the goal is to have it done by March... so lets all cross our fingers that I can stay on schedule! It takes so much longer when you do these things yourself, but it feels good being able to see the outcome of your hard work when it's done.
crate with feet!
Another crafty project for this week was
crocheted booties for Della! It took me a few nights after she went to bed to get these done, and I'm pretty sure she's worn them twice and will grow out of them. But they're so darn cute! I saw them on Pinterest and had to try them. I haven't had good experiences making shoes in the past, they just didn't turn out great and weren't fun to make, but I really enjoyed these. I think I'll get better at the details the more I make stuff like this, so I'm excited to make her lots of cute stuff in the future!

Big Girl! |
Friday was a red-letter day... When I picked Della up from daycare, she was sitting in a bouncy seat holding her own bottle! She has finally figured it out, although sometimes she hits herself in the eye trying to get in in her mouth... and when I walked in the room she looked at me and said "MAMA!" Yes! It was the first time I could claim it as being just "mama" and not "mamamamamamama" gibberish... Then, when we got home she was in her bouncy seat and I was in the kitchen where she couldn't see me and I heard her say it again! When I looked around at her she smiled so big! Daniel said "I think you've been summoned!" So I'm going to write it in her baby book that her first word was "Mama" on January 26th!

Happy Birthday Kellie! |
Friday was also my sister Kellie's birthday! We loaded up on Saturday and went to see her and Henry and came back on Sunday. Daniel wasn't able to go because of drill, which was sad but we still had a good time. We ate good food and had delicious cookie cake(s) and Kellie got to open gifts! We just hung out at their house and relaxed, which was wonderful. It worked out to do that because it was so rainy out this weekend. On Sunday we went out to eat after church and I just didn't think about taking in the car seat so Della got to sit in the booster seat like a big girl! She's still a bit small, so we had to use my mom's coat to kinda fill in the space around her and give her some extra support. She's almost sitting up by herself, but still needs some help. She loved sitting in the seat and seeing everyone! She's getting so big that it's hard for me to carry her in the car seat, so its awesome that she can sit in those child seats, that will definitely make life a little easier! We headed home after Della ate and had a nap, and she did great riding in the car. We had to stop once for a diaper change and we gave her a bottle and she was out until we were almost home!

another pre-travel nap |
It was a great week, and next week should be interesting because we are starting a
Whole30! This is my second time to do one and I hope that it can get me back on track. I was eating very healthy when I was pregnant with Della due to gestational diabetes, but since having her I have been enjoying the things that I couldn't have, which is ALL THE SUGAR! I need to kick that, so I am going to start a Whole30 on February 1st and try to reset my system and kick this sugar demon that I have.
So, we'll see how this goes... see ya next week!
