The greenest wall ever... |
This week has been full of sickness! I've had what I think is a sinus infection, Daniel has been sick with the same thing (but he can take meds) and Della tested positive for RSV! I'm so ready for this cold and flu season to take a hike! Our first trip to the doctor was to get Della's flu shot, so we got to sit on the well kids side that day and luckily she didn't have any reaction to it. But then on Tuesday she didn't have a great day at daycare and just wasn't herself, not taking naps and crying. So I took her to the doctor first thing Wednesday morning and turns out she had bronchitis and RSV! Bless her heart I know she was miserable. She had to have two shots! I took off work and stayed home with her that day and we just snuggled and rested. She had this horrible cough that would wake her up but at least she never had a fever. The only way she would sleep was on me, so I moved the glider to the living room and just held her and watched The Office the rest of the day.
They weighed her and such at the doctor and she came in at 15.5 pounds and 25 1/4 inches long! She's definitely a growing girl! We are having to move up to 9 month clothes now... she can still wear the 6 month stuff but it's pretty filled out.
We went back to the doctor Thursday for a re-check and she was a bit better. Her cough and the bronchitis didn't worry them anymore, so we just kept giving her medicine for the next 4 days. My mom kept her that day, and Dan and Carolyn kept her Friday, as she couldn't go back to daycare until Monday. She improved over the weekend, but that cough just tends to linger. Hopefully it will go away soon.
We had our weekly date night on Thursday instead of Tuesday since Della was sick and we did some grocery shopping and got stuff to scrape our kitchen ceiling! We ate at Logan's and managed to pretty easily stay Whole30 compliant. We both got salads and just asked for no croutons or cheese and got oil and vinegar for dressing. I didn't have high hopes for the oil and vinegar dressing, but it was actually really good! And for once I didn't feel horrible after eating out! Win!
I'm proud of us, because even though we've all been sick (except Bernie) we have stayed on the Whole30 plan and not caved. I almost was done on Wednesday because I was home all day and had no snacks! But I was strong and had some fruit to tide me over until Daniel got home with groceries. I'll tell ya, I'm just glad you can have coffee on this thing because I wouldn't survive without it. Luckily I started drinking my coffee black on my first Whole30 a couple years ago, so there wasn't an adjustment there.
Before...Scraped...First coat of paint
Saturday morning I got up and started taping off the kitchen with plastic so that we could scrape the popcorn off and my mom and dad came and got Della (Daddy stayed to help!). After everything was covered and we had all the supplies out, we were off! It took about 2.5 hours with four people (Me, Daniel, Daddy & Dan) scraping. The hardest parts were over the cabinets because you had to reach to get to it. It's messy work, but we got it done and then Daniel and I cleaned everything up and we were done before supper! On Sunday I put a coat of paint on as a primer before I add the swirl texture. It is amazing how much better and brighter the ceiling looks just by removing that awful popcorn!

Ducky Dress |
We went to church Sunday and Della wore a precious little duck dress, and then she went home with Mama and Daddy so I could paint the ceiling. Our church did a Valentines lasagna supper that night, so we went to that and picked her up. We didn't eat at the supper, we planned ahead and had a roast cooking at home, so we just went for fellowship and then ate when we got home. But oh, it all looked so good! You can't beat those church-lady desserts!
Nana and Papa must have worn her out, because Della went to sleep at 7:30! She was up and down for a bit coughing, but finally was out for the night around 10 pm.
Our plan for this weekend is to scrape the ceiling in the living room, which will be tricky because it's a high angled ceiling... we're going to get a scaffolding platform to work off of to make it a little easier. Daniel and I are off work on Friday and Monday so we plan to tackle it and get as much done as possible! So tune in next week!
